Welcome

Welcome to our blog!

I am excited to start this blog and I hope to see many of your comments as we begin to develop it more fully.  Please read about our goals so you can understand the direction I am thinking of taking. I am not sure how fast construction will be because of my schedule.  I would suggest you participate in the Newport Mesa Adult School blog.  It is full of amazing ideas and resources.  Martha Rankin has written many well-researched articles as well.

This blog will never have as much information and will be more general than the school blogs.  It will basically be a hub to all of the Orange County agencies who choose to participate.  I am not building the blog because of any directive.  I only hope to bring Orange County instructors to a learning community where we can help and benefit one another.  Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Rob Jenkins

  1. The learning community sites that Martha has created and you have worked on at Santa Ana College are great. There is so much potential for helping train and equip teachers for professional development. In addition, new curricula can be created and practical projects can be implemented at very low cost. Our blog is free for instance. There must be support from faculty and administrators to accomplish these worthy goals. How else can we go from academic research to creative pedagogy in our classrooms? We have a lot of adjunct faculty who want to work on the learning community project. Let’s find a way to implement it together with other programs in our area and publishers who’ll support us.
